Gallery Showing and Sold Pieces

Hi all.  It has been over a month since I last posted.  I have been very busy.  On October 10th, I was a guest artist at an art gallery (Gallery East - Belleview, FL).  I had a showing of my Zentangles® and Zentiagle Inspired Art (ZIAs).  The main purpose for me was to try to get students, either at the gallery or privately.  I think I was successful in my quest.  I spoke with a lot of people and gave out a lot of business cards!  I also sold one of my pieces.  It was a 10"x10" framed butterfly.  Here is a pic of that piece, before it was framed.

This is the second piece that I have sold.  Last month, I sold blue butterfly.  It was done in a 12"x16" frame.  Larger than the one above.  You can see it in my last post.  Believe it or not, the blue one was sold online.  I put an add on a local website about the happenings in the Villages, where I live.  I saw a link for the classifieds and I just put a picture of it on the site.  The very next day, I had someone that said she wanted to buy it!  She was going to buy it unframed, but my husband had just finished matting and framing it before I got her email.  When she saw it framed, she bought the whole package!  What a thrill it was for me!

That's all I have time for right now.

See what I did!

Hi all.  I just have to show you what I did with my butterfly ZIA...I copied the B&W one on a lighter watercolor paper and then used my iridescent watercolor paints to give it color.  I decided to post it on a local web site.  They had a classified section and I just on a whim, posted it there, for sale.  I had a response the next morning from a woman who wanted to buy it!  By then, my husband had already made a mat for it.  She said that she would pay the extra money for the matting.  I have since, gotten 2 more orders for the butterflies!  I love the idea of printing out the B&W and painting that.  It leaves the original, untouched!

The pic hasn't been cropped or matted yet so There are some pencil marks on the top and warped lines from the scan.  These have all disappeared after it was matted.

Here is another new ZIA that I made using a rubber stamp, for the face.  The rays are done freehand.

This particular tile was made for a swap.  The theme was sun.

I hope you enjoy seeing my new work.

Until next time...

More Tiles and a Challenge

Hi all!  I have done another challenge for I am the Diva.  The challenge was to do a tile with a spiral going out.  I drew my string and started tangling.  I had no idea where I was going to go with it.  I thought I would just do a little Poke Leaf, one of my favorite fillers.  Then I just kept going around and around, spiraling out.  I ended up doing a mono tangle of just Poke Leaf!  I decided to shade the in-between spaces and all of a sudden, I had my tile!  I think it turned out really cool!
Mono Tangle for Diva Challenge #160

I was at a ladies' church function last week.  I was showing some people how easy it was to draw a Zentangle.  I drew a string and just did a couple of quick tangles to show them.  I didn't pay a lot of attention to what I was doing and didn't particularly like the tile that I had started, but I decided to finish it later.  I still didn't particularly like it but continued on...I finally decided that the only way to salvage it was to make it a ZIA and add color to it.  I used some iridescent watercolor paints and kept going until I was satisfied with it.  I wish you were able to see the iridescence.  It is much prettier in real life.  My husband thinks it is fantastic!  I am pleased with the outcome.

I did this Zentangle to try using a new tangle called Rixty.  It is in honor of Rick Roberts 60th birthday.  Get it?  Rick is sixty...Rixty!

This is another one that I did with Rixty.  I also wanted to use this string and I had a blue tile handy so I did it on the blue.  Interesting...

That's all for today.  I am working on some more challenges that I will post at a later day.

Till next time...

More Zentangles® and ZIA's

It is already March 1st and I think I lost the whole month of February.  Where does time go?  I have been very busy, working on my Zentangle art.  I am involved in a couple of swaps.  The big swap is to make 53 artist trading cards.  That's a lot of tangling!  One of the tricks that I learned from other CZTs in the swap, was to do a large 5"x7" Zentangle and then cut it into 4 pieces that measure 2½" by 3½" (the size of the ATCs).  I did that with a few of them.  Meanwhile, here are a couple more pieces of my work...

This is one that I did the 5x7 and cut into 4s.

This is a regular size tile that I did for another swap.

Colorful 5x7 Zentangle®

I have just finished a colorful 5x7" Zentangle inspired art piece (ZIA).  I am doing a CZT swap and I need to make 53 artist trading cards (2 ½ x 3 ½ ).  Some of the other CZTs are making a 5x7 and cutting it so that they will actually have 4 cards in one piece.  Believe me, it is much easier to make 1 larger piece than it is to make 4 smaller ones.  I am able to work with larger tangles which take up much less time than the smaller ones.  Great tip from other CZTs!  Here is the original piece, before I cut it up.   I used iridescent water colors and I love the way it pops!  Hope you do too.
